Having already shared my views about the public transport system in Gdańsk in a post I regularly update, I’d now like to share a short guide regarding where you can purchase single fare and daily Gdańsk public transport tickets.
Before I share a detailed breakdown of your options, I will share current public transport ticket prices for trams and buses in Gdańsk.

How can you buy single-journey, 75-minute and daily Gdańsk public transport tickets?
There are a variety of ways in which you can buy one-ride, 75-minute and daily public transport tickets in Gdańsk. Tourists visiting the city who aren’t willing to download a mobile app to buy tickets have several options at their disposal, as we shall now explore:
1. Ticket Machines
At most tram and bus stops you will find ticket machines, almost all of which accept both cash and card payments. The machines operate in the English language.
If you’re based in the historic Main Town of Gdańsk and are wondering where you can find a ticket machine, head to the tram stops in front of the famous Upper Gate (Brama Wyżynna). There are two machines there on both sides of the tram tracks. Moreover, if you cross the street in front of the Upper Gate and head towards Forum, there is a machine just to the right of the bus stop.

2. Kiosks
There are a number of kiosks scattered around Gdańsk which sell one-ride, 75-minute and daily public transport tickets.
Most notably for tourists, there is Kiosk w tunelu Forum which, as the name probably suggests, is located in the tunnel which runs under the main road (Wały Jagiellońskie). This road separates the Main Town to the east and Forum shopping mall to the west. Entrance to the tunnel is next to Rossman close to the Upper Gate.
3. Ticket sales points
There are several ticket sales points in Gdańsk which sell one-ride, 75-minute and daily bus and tram tickets.
For tourists who arrive into Gdańsk at the Main Railway Station, there is a handy SKM Ticket Office (Kasa biletowa SKM) located in the tunnel. The easiest ways to access the tunnel are by taking the lift in the station lobby or by going down the stairs located in front of the station building.

4. Customer Service Points
There are two customer service points which sell single-fare and daily Gdańsk public transport tickets. One of the offices (Punkt Obsługi Klienta nr 1) is located in Galeria Metropolia, entrance from Kilińskiego Street 4. All in all, it’s very close to Gdańsk Wrzeszcz Railway Station.
The other customer service point (Punkt Obsługi Klienta nr 4) is situated at the tram terminus in the district of Orunia Górna at Świętokrzyska Street 15.
5. Online Tickets in Mobile Apps
Smartphone owners can purchase Gdańsk public transport tickets online in an abundance of mobile applications, including:
- zbiletem.pl – A handy app with an English language option, departure times and wide range of ticket options for Gdańsk and the wider Tri-City area.
- jakdojade – One of the most comprehensive public transport apps on the Polish market. Extremely user-friendly, the app has a trip planner and bus and tram schedules. You can purchase single-journey, 75-minute, daily and monthly tickets in the app.
6. The Fala System in Gdańsk
If you wish to purchase a single-trip ticket with your contactless bank card, you can do so on board from a card reader or “Falomat”.
The machines look like this – the standard card reader is on the left while the Falomat is on the right:

FALOMATS – At the heart of the FALA system is a device called the Falamat which can be found approximately in the middle of every tram or bus as well as on platforms and at major train stations in Gdańsk.
Only Falomats enable passengers to buy multiple tickets on board, including reduced-fare tickets.
Confirm the transaction and pay by holding your contactless card near the payment terminal located at the bottom of the Falomat. The entire operation is recorded in the FALA System. Should there be a ticket inspection, you only need to hold the card used for the purchase above the inspector’s device.
Be aware that by holding your card near a Falomat once, you will automatically purchase a single one-way full-fare ticket for 4,80 zł.
CARD READERS – Card readers are smaller than the Falomats. You will find the card readers near the vehicle doors. These readers allow for the automatic purchase of a single full-fare ticket (4,80 zł). Holding your card near the reader is equivalent to purchasing a ticket, which will be confirmed by a message on the screen: “Journey started.”
