Cud Miód Fabryczna Restaurant in Łódź

As creatures of habit, my wife and I went to the restaurant Cud Miód Fabryczna for lunch three days in a row during a July 2024 visit to Łódź.

This review of Cud Miód details what I experienced in terms of the quality of the food, prices, ambience of the restaurant and the attentiveness of the staff.

Where is Cud Miód Fabryczna Restaurant?

Cud Miód Fabryczna is located at Traugutta Street 2. The entrance of the restaurant is just a 50-metre walk away from Piotrkowska Street – the main artery of Łódź.

Cud Miód Fabryczna Menu

I had already been very impressed by the extensiveness of Cud Miód’s lunch offerings when I visited Łódź alone in March 2024.

During our three visits to the restaurant, my wife and I decided to share dishes as the portion sizes are fairly generous. More to come on the dishes we had very soon.

Cud Miód Fabryczna Breakfast

Cud Miód’s breakfast offer is valid every day from 10:00-12:00.

As you can see from the breakfast menu below, the six choices available should suit most palates. I would personally plump for the ‘smoked salmon’ option as I’m not that keen on tomatoes.

Pay heed to the small print above the breakfast menu. It only costs 1 grosz for a coffee, tea or cocoa, providing that you order a breakfast dish.

Cud Miód Fabryczna Lunch Menu

First thing’s first, allow me to share the lunch menu at Cud Miód Fabryczna, which, I am sure you will agree, is extensive and intriguing:

Beginning with the starters, there is quite a varied choice on the menu. Five out of the eight starter dishes are gluten-free.

A free appetiser

On each of the three days we had lunch at Cud Miód, my wife and I gratefully received an appetiser of black and green olives in garlic-infused olive oil with fresh rosemary and small bits of chill pepper. The olives came with two small pieces of bread.

Main courses

Previous experience at Cud Miód Fabryczna had taught me that the portion sizes of the main courses are generous. Therefore, we decided to share the veal beaten cutlets (68,99 zł) on day one. We were served four small veal cutlets with mushroom sauce, mashed potato and blanched spinach. Just to make sure that we would assuage our hunger, we ordered an extra portion of chips. The portion size was reasonable so I guess the 12 zł we had to pay for the chips is acceptable. All in all, we had no complaints about the cooking at all.

On day two, my wife and I plumped for the Cud Miód Goose option as well as extra chips. This is a goose leg with dried plum and red onion, homemade dumplings and caramelised beetroot and walnuts. There was plenty of meat on the goose leg to satisfy our hunger. Again, everything was perfectly cooked. We ordered exactly the same on day three.

Apart from the two main courses we enjoyed, other standout main course options include the lamb (shank) and Cud Miód ribs (classic or oriental). In addition to the main courses, there are also plenty of types of burgers in a set, pasta dishes, pizzas, dumplings and beef dishes in a set.

Premium cuts of beef

On our first out of three visits to Cud Miód Fabryczna, I asked our waiter, Nikita, what separates the restaurant from the competition in Łódź. He immediately singled out Cud Miód’s beef steaks. There’s a story behind the beef steaks, as Nikita was willing to explain:

Our owners used to work with meat before establishing Cud Miód. They find only the best cuts of beef, for example, from Argentina. The owners personally visit the restaurant a few times a week to check the meat.

The restaurant’s premium steak cuts are on show to diners in a large fridge.

The Drinks Menu at Cud Miód Fabryczna

Prices of drinks are generally what you would expect them to be in a centrally-located restaurant in a large city in Poland. Here are some examples:

Soft drinks (Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite) – 9,90 zł

Cappuccino – 14 zł

Hot chocolate – 15 zł

Signature cocktails – 30,99 – 36,99 zł

Finlandia vodka shot (40 ml, all flavours) – 13,90 zł

Flavoured lemonade (400 ml, various flavours) – 16,90 zł

Bottle of beer (500 ml, e.g. Książęce IPA, Pilsner Urquell) – 17,90 zł

Restaurant ambience

In the summer, I recommend sitting outside as you’re guaranteed to be in the shade due to the height of the building – Hotel Grand – opposite the restaurant. You might get some passers-by but such an overwhelming amount that you can’t enjoy your meal in relative peace.

As for the restaurant interior, I think the owners found that all important delicate balance between exaggerated minimalism and the need to bring the space to life with objects of interest, such as a few old pictures and an old red motorbike.

The seating layout is spot on. For the owners, it was clearly a case of respecting diners’ space, privacy and comfort as they could easily have packed quite a few more tables inside. It means so much to be able to go to a restaurant and not feel cramped in it.

Finally, Cud Miód Fabryczna has an open kitchen which, to me, is a sign of a top-class restaurant as authenticity and trust between all parties come into play.

Service

We had three different waitpersons on the three different days we had lunch at Cud Miód. They made us feel right at home, particularly Nikita who served us for our first lunch.

All of the waitpersons were professional, friendly, spoke decent English and were non-intrusive. They made us feel right at home.

Aware that the restaurant would probably get busy after 13 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, we went to Cud Miód at around 12 o’clock. There were plenty of free tables outside and we didn’t have to wait much longer than 15 minutes for our meal. When it does get busy, you may have to wait 30 minutes or more for your meal.
