This mostly fine and warm Polish summer of 2024 rolls on. My wife and I recently drove along the Kashubian Road (Droga Kaszubska) for the second time. On this occasion, we turned off the Kashubian Road near the Złota Góra viewpoint, turning left onto the provincial road 228 to drive down to Brama Kaszubska – the Kashubian Gate. We later rejoined the Kashubian Road in Chmielno.
What is the Kashubian Gate?
Located in Kamienny Dół, the Kashubian Gate is a narrow isthmus in the Kashubian Lake District which separates two lakes – Raduńskie Dolne and Raduńskie Górne. It was built in the 19th century.
Nearby the Kashubian Gate
Travelling from the direction of Kartuzy/Złota Góra, you can park your car at the bottom of the dirt road by the entrance to the forest. This is only around 50 metres from the very short and narrow strait which separates the two lakes.
If you have time on your hands, you can walk along a forest path which runs parallel to Lake Raduńskie Górne. The path ends in the village of Zgorzałe. In the forest, between Zgorzałe and the Kashubian Gate, there is an entertainment park – Minigolf na Mapie Kaszub. There’s plenty here to entertain the kids, including a mini golf course, farm animals, a corn maze and a playground.
Also nearby Brama Kaszubska is Adler Medical Spa, which has a restaurant. Guests can drink coffee whilst taking in the views over Lake Raduńskie Górne.
